Welsh ponies & Cobs in Harness

                            LEYESWICK BENROSS

                                                      1991 - 2011

On the morning of the 3rd Feburary 2011, we unfortunately lost our Welsh Section D Stallion Leyeswick Benross to Colic, we have owned RB since he was 14 months old, so therefore he was very much a part of the family and a great loss to us all.  This pony had the heart of a lion and always gave you everything he had in the show ring.

RB was purchased by the Jamico Stud as a yearling and was home produced, he was broked to harness driven around the streets of East London amongst busy traffic, RB was known for his extravagant movement, and most of his life he was driven by Peter Howell in show wagon classes throughout the country and won many firsts and championships one of the highlights was winning the Welsh Section D Stallion harness class and being reserve driving champion at the Royal Welsh in 2002.

In 2009 we decided to switch his career to private driving, driven by James Howell RB once again excelled himself, qualifying for the BDS Osbourne Championships for the past 3 years in the Welsh Section D Category and was reserve champion in 2009.  Also in 2009 he was Victoria Foods Qualifier Reserve Champion and Carriage Driving Extravanganza Reserve Champion.  However in 2010 at the grand old age of 19 he really excelled in the Private Drive, winning again at the Royal Welsh for the second time and being placed 2nd Reserve in the Championship, he also qualified for that much coveted event HOYS at the Lincoln County Show.

RB a true harness horse may he rest in peace and will always hold a special place in our hearts.
